Traditional Villages

Silk weaving in Moc Nam commune, Duy Tien district, Ha Nam province

This silk weaving village is located in Moc Nam commune, Duy Tien district, Ha Nam province, about 70kms from Hanoi. According to the villagers, this weaving tradition has exited since the 13th or 14th century. At present there are about 500 weaving looms in the commune and most of them are semi-electronic looms. Craft Link is supporting one weaving group here in product development and marketing. The group is also encouraged to use only safe dye ingredients to protect their health and customer’s health. Products from this group are mainly silk scarves being dyed in many different techniques and color to create their unique character. Those items are exported to many countries in Europe, Australia and America… under Craft Link’s distribution markets.
